Privacy Policy

Overview

AltPlusCtrl (https://altplusctrl.com) is operated as a keyboard shortcut reference and practice platform. This policy describes exactly what data is collected when you use the site, why, and who it's shared with. We don't sell personal data, and we don't collect more than the site actually needs to function.

Analytics — Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages, shortcuts, and tools are actually used, so we know what to improve or expand. GA4 collects standard behavioral data (pages viewed, approximate location from IP, device/browser type, referring site) and specific in-app events this site defines, including when you practice a shortcut in the Shortcut Trainer, download a cheat sheet, start a paid checkout, initiate a donation, or subscribe to the newsletter. None of these events include the content of what you type — for example, we log that you practiced an Excel shortcut and whether you got it right, not any personal information.

GA4 only loads if a measurement ID is configured, and it operates under Google's own data practices — see Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across the web using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Newsletter — Brevo

If you subscribe to the newsletter (available in the site footer and elsewhere), your email address is sent to Brevo, our email service provider, and added to a single mailing list. Brevo sends you an automatic welcome email and any future newsletter updates from AltPlusCtrl. We do not use your email for anything else — it is not shared with advertisers or other third parties beyond Brevo acting as our processor. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list immediately. See Brevo's Privacy Policy for how they handle data on our behalf.

Payments — Stripe

Purchases of the Custom Cheat Sheet and donations are processed entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number — Stripe handles that. When you complete a purchase, Stripe passes us your email address and the order details (which apps you selected, the role label you chose, and the amount paid) so we can generate and deliver your cheat sheet and keep records for accounting and customer support. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.

Contact form — Formspree

The contact form is powered by Formspree, a third-party form-processing service. When you submit the contact form, your name, email, and message are sent through Formspree to our inbox. Formspree does not use this data for advertising. See Formspree's Privacy Policy.

Local storage — Shortcut Trainer

The Shortcut Trainer tracks which shortcuts you've missed using your browser's localStorage, entirely on your device. This data is never transmitted to our servers — it exists only in your browser and is used to decide which shortcuts to show you more often. Clearing your browser data or using a different browser resets this progress.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish unique visitors and sessions. Stripe Checkout may set cookies related to fraud prevention during the payment process. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking of our own.

Your rights

You can ask us to tell you what data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, by emailing contact@altplusctrl.com. For newsletter data specifically, the fastest route is the unsubscribe link in any email we send. For payment records, note that we're required to retain certain transaction data for accounting and tax purposes even after a deletion request.

Changes to this policy

If our data practices change materially, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
